Maddy Update

Jean Ogilvie put this in a comment, but I'll put it out here to make it more obvious that there is an update:

In talking to Maddy yesterday from hospital, she said that she was ready to put Emily into palliative doggie care - that she recognized that she couldn't cope with her. There is an organization in Philly that we have been in contact with that offers to foster doggies in a palliative state, so I will be working on this over the weekend. She had stopped barfing, but did have an infection which kept her in intensive care for a while. Should be back on 3rd floor today.

Binky is annoying as ever. Peeing on the carpet for no reason, biting people whenever they touch him if he's sitting on the bed, etc. I'd gladly swap him for Emily.

Vicki says that when Binky dies, we can get a real dog.

How's your current dog, Paul? In a weak moment a year and a half ago I promised Vicki I wouldn't say anything mean about him. I've done maybe a B+ job at it, but it's been hard.

Actually, my German Shepherd "Heidi" was the best dog ever. But Emily reminds me of her, so she's the second best dog ever.

Having Heidi put down was the saddest thing I ever did in my life.

So sorry to hear this. Emily is perhaps the Best Dog Ever.
